We often hear from our existing members the first time we met them What is CrossFit and Is it for me?. .. ‘Do I need to lose weight first?’, ‘Will I survive?’. What is CrossFit? Is it circuit training? Well, let us explain exactly what CrossFit is…
CrossFit is defined as ‘The Sport of Fitness’. With take Functional Movements the Body was designed to do (Picking Keys up from the floor, sitting to a toilet), we vary the movements constantly, challenging the body in different ways and then we introduce an intensity that is right for you. As a training program CrossFit coaches people of all shapes and sizes to improve their physical well-being, lifestyle and cardiovascular fitness.

Over a 2 week period, you will learn 5 of the 9 Fundamental Movements needed to safely and effectively perform CrossFit workouts in a group class format. Our Fundamentals class is designed to go over each movement in detail, with a huge emphasis on technical skill. This allows the Coaches to look at your movement and provide scaling options and mobility drills to help you develop a further understanding of the movement requirement. You’ll develop a deeper understanding as you enter into class as you’ll constantly be developing a deeper awareness of each movement and its then we will layer on intensity.
A Typical Fundamentals Class
15 mins – Warmup
30 mins – Movement Instruction
Up to 15 mins – WOD (Workout)
The class duration is usually an hour long, but depending on the workout and movements we will instruct it may go over an hour by 10-20 minutes.
What to Expect
Regardless of your current fitness ability, flexibility and understanding – expect to learn! Expect to have a tough, but short work out that might give you a little reality check on your fitness level. You’ll see lots of smiling faces and the Coaches will be with you every step of the way to encourage you.

We accept a £50.00 deposit to secure a place on an up and coming course (We get booked up quickly). We will then arrange the remaining payment with you 1 week before the course starts. You will experience a completely different way of training and gain some serious knowledge.

What happens next?
You’re part of the Aphobos Tribe! You’ll have access to everything we offer, from regular classes, to events and social activities.
Once you join Class, you’ll experience our Aphobos CrossFit Program Design has been developed to enhance an individual’s competency at all physical tasks.
We will train you to perform successfully at multiple, diverse, and randomised physical challenges.
You will learn Gymnastics from basic to advance, controlling the body statically and dynamically at both body weight and to maximise strength whilst maintaining flexibility.
Weightlifting features heavily in our program, having seen the benefits from the Sport of Olympic Lifting, developing an individual’s ability to develop explosive power, control of objects and mastering motor body control will compliment all the other areas of physical training we offer under our Aphobos CrossFit Program.
For those new to CrossFit, we recommend a min of 6 months in class before the more technical skills can be introduced. This will feature as part of the 2nd part of the Fundamentals course.

Our FREE Trial Class is for anyone who has never tried CrossFit before. We provide a quick overview of ‘What is CrossFit?’ and what we do at Aphobos CrossFit. We then introduce you to a basic CrossFit workout, which provides a window into a CrossFit experience. We then answer any questions you might have, explain our Membership options and you get to me the Team and the Community at Aphobos CrossFit.
