She discovered CrossFit in early 2012, placing 3rd in the Irish Throwdown in 2013. She then went on to open CrossFit Bromley in 2015, and five years later we have evolved as Aphobos CrossFit.

Lisa Maclean

Coach & Prehab, Mobility and Rehab Support / Sports Therapist

Lisa joined Aphobos in 2020 with a goal of wanting to develop her strength and a curiosity to find out what CrossFit was about. Already working in the fitness industry as a Personal Trainer and Group Exercise instructor Lisa was wanting something more than what other gyms were providing and instantly felll in love with Aphobos and their ethos. Lisa completed her Level 1 CrossFit in October 2021 to further her education and this just re enforced her beliefs in CrossFit. Recently completing Aphobos’s own Coach Development plan in 2022 Lisa has made her way from member to become part of the Aphobos coaching team.

Sports and fitness have always been an integral part of Lisa life. Competitive swimming both as a child and master athlete through to cycling, running and weight training.

Emma Gibson

Coach

Emma joined Aphobos in 2019 after feeling something was missing in her training regime – the gym lacked the competitive edge & buzz she was looking for. Her love for Crossfit was immediate and in 2021 she took the plunge to explore this passion further and joined the Aphobos Coach Development Programme. Under Alex & Head Coach Gemma’s guidance she has developed her knowledge and coaching experience; becoming a Crossfit Level 1 Trainer in September 2021.

Sport & fitness have always been a part of Emma’s life; having competed in Stunt Cheerleading in University before transitioning to playing rugby in Championship 2 for the past 7 years & representing her County.

Tamara O' Sullivan - Assistant Coach
Tamara O’ Sullivan

Assistant Coach

Tammy became a part of Aphobos in 2024, following her introduction to Danny and Gemma at one of their CrossFit events, which led her to participate in the coaches CDP program.

Her journey with CrossFit began in 2017 when her rugby coach recommended it to enhance her fitness. After experiencing several rugby-related injuries and the challenges posed by lockdown, Tammy decided to make CrossFit her primary sport in 2021 and has been fully committed ever since. She completed her CFT Level 1 in June 2023 and continued her development through the Aphobos coaching program.

Tammy’s passion for sports has been evident throughout her life. As a former national swimmer, she contributed to swimming the English Channel in 2014 as part of a relay team. During her university years, Tammy found joy in being a member of the university rugby team, eventually assuming the role of captain.
